MOBILE HEALTH SERVICES
The project on Mobile health services was started at construction sites and JJ clusters of South-West Delhi (Bindapur, Sagarpur ,Harijan Basti B5 and Jhuggis, Janakpuri District centre) . For the purpose, an equipped mobile van was used. Mobile Team consisted of a qualified allopathic Doctor (MBBS), one pharmacist, one nurse /ANM and one dresser and one attendant.
The project supported by Delhi Government Health services have been in operation for the period 2009 to 2014. The services, provided free of cost, mainly focused on maternal & child health, preventive and curative treatment for common ailments / diseases such as cough & cold, fever, dysentery/diarrhea, skin infections, minor cuts and injury etc. Cases needing specialized treatment were referred to nearby government hospitals.
The project focused on safe motherhood – providing ante-natal, post-natal care, facilitating safe delivery, promoting family planning practices (spacing of children); child immunization and basic curative treatment.
During the project period, 5014 children (0-14), 2990 Women in reproductive age-group and 1259 other adults were covered under various diagnostic and curative services ( common ailments), facilitating child immunization, Maternal care (Gynecological problems, ANC/PNC) and 218 institutional deliveries facilitated.
Women accessing mobile health services are also imparted knowledge Home-based preventive health care, breast-feeding and weaning practices, supplementary feeding, low-cost nutrition and growth monitoring is integral part of mobile health services. Also, awareness and family planning counseling has been part of the health care services which included condom distribution(4578 pieces) and distribution of oral pills among 897 women.
TARGET INTERVENTION PROJECT ON HIV/ AIDS (MIGRANT POPULATION)
The Migrant Targeted Intervention project is financially supported by the Delhi AIDS Control Society (DSACS) since year 2014 for covering migrants living in localities of South-West district of Delhi. The project target are consists of DURGA PARK, NASIRPUR, MAYAPURI, VIJAY ENCLAVE, SAGARPUR, MAHAVIR ENCLAVE, MANGLAPURI, PALAM, MADHU VIHAR, MATYALA, PRATAP GARDEN,SITAPURI, BINDAPUR and DABRI. The project reaches to about 20,000,00 popultion.
The migrants population are mostly from poor family of Bihar, UP, Jharkhand &West Bengal and working as labor in different set-up-that is- hotel, industrial units, construction, private households or else work as rickshaw pullers, small vendors, vegetable sellers
They reside in very unhygienic situation in various JJ colonies and unauthorized colonies of South-West Delhi. Most of them married but living alone here in Delhi- leaving their spouse/family back home and visit their native place/family two- three times in the year usually on festive occasions or social occasions.
Addiction- of one kind or the other -alcohol, drugs, chewing Gutka &drugs- is quite common. The habitation- nature of population, occupation, living style etc- breed provocations and emerges as vulnerable pockets of unsafe sexual activities. There is thus need for sustained & continuous behavioral change communication (BCC) for increasing practice for safe sex.
The project, therefore first of all, seeks to assess their knowledge and perception, identifying migration locations. People are given information about grave consequences of unsafe sexual practices resulting into Sexually Transmitted infection (STIs) and HIV/AIDS.
The services focuses on prevention and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (SIT) through linkages established with the existing health care system, Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre, Anti Retro Viral Therapy. Condom distribution outlets are established promoting safe sex.
Health camps are organized with support from local Panchayat or Youth clubs for identifying and treating STIs in the migrant community. Efforts are also made to link people below poverty level with Rashtriya Swastha Bima Yojna (RSBY). This helped migrants with financial support during emergency hospitalization.

For a short period, during year 2015, monthly groceries were given to 45 persons/ families infected with HIV/ AIDS.
